We are beginning our fight against infectious diseases with our first product, the ParaST system. ParaST is a portable, battery-run, diagnostic device that takes saliva as a sample rather than blood. By using saliva, our device removes the issues of potential infection and waste needles that come from the use of blood. Along with that, our device runs off a battery and doesn’t require the device or other materials to be refrigerated, with results being found in less than five minutes, improving treatment in more remote locations without as many resources.
Above is the disposable test chamber for our device, with each portion denoted by the different colors. The green portion marks the chamber that contains the sample. The red portion denotes the plated electrodes used to detect malaria based on the impedance change in the presence of malaria.
